See utterly damned adorable pic and multi-choice poll inside (or WIPO yourself thoroughly instead)...

The pain of loss was utterly unbearable. It was recommended to us by many friends and family to get a new puppy right away to fill the vast, gaping hole in our hearts with something adorable to pour our super-tanker of puppy love into... so we did! And it still hurts and we're very freaked out and overprotective, but it seems so far to have been a very, very good idea.

The trouble is, we don't know what to name him. We've come up with several good ideas so far, so whaddya think of them? Vote for every one that you don't hate for the little guy, and we'll see about having an elimination round out of your favorites if we still can't decide by then.

Ready for it? Aaaaaawwwwwww.....

Gizmo's in there twice. Vote for the second one if you think that's a reason TO name him that, since ours is definitely cuter than hers.

Don Coyote by misslake (4.00 / 7) #2 Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 05:27:41 PM EST
he looks like a stately landowner worthy of the title "don"
and he's bound to be wiley, hence coyote
and possibly prone to tilting at windmills, and saving fair ladies.

Excellent Suggestion! by Lady Jane (2.00 / 0) #20 Thu Jul 10, 2008 at 03:04:35 PM EST
We have also considered Sancho and Panza, but it doesn't seem to fit.

Good Gourd! What the hell is wrong with that dog?! by me0w (4.00 / 2) #4 Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 05:44:06 PM EST
I hope he grows into his ears. If he stays like that I recommend 'Dumbo', and if he does grow into his ears you should name him 'Kitty'.

I've always wanted to name a dog 'Kitty'.

Are there Japanese people in your area? by ReallyEvilCanine (4.00 / 1) #9 Thu Jul 10, 2008 at 04:47:57 AM EST
Naming a dog "kitty" drives Japanese people batshit insane. I know this from taking care of someone's dog during the Apple Music Festival in NYC (back when it were all fields out there). A few Japanese bands were in the central computer room to be amazed at our computing powah and also to chat with friends back home in Tokyo. When I told 'em the dog's name was "Kitty-Kat" they lost it. They then told their friends via Web cam and keyboard and inside two minutes the entire Milk Bar was hovering over the computer to get a look at the dog called "cat".

The dog's real name was Artemis but he'd respond to anything.

Call him Senor Antonio Ruiz Castellanos Guzmán Yáñez Saba Raffoul Alcaraz Posada Jiménez Montalbán de las Nieves. But his friends just call him Mr. Bo Stankus for short.

I still... by Sapphire (4.00 / 1) #7 Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 10:13:12 PM EST
...you should name your little puppy, "Bean."

For those of you who aren't nearby, I have met this little fuzzy one.  That picture doesn't do him justice.  He is so cute!  I am not generally a fan of small dogs, but Rizzo and Lady Jane made a good choice.

but I think we're leaning towards Paco or Deigo, and it looks as Husi is as well, aside from the frontrunner!!  We just may have to pencil in a goatee on the little guy!

you just ran out and got a new puppy? by StackyMcRacky (4.00 / 1) #8 Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 10:20:31 PM EST
did you do any research on the breeder?

you guys are on the road as a lifestyle right now, correct?

Thankfully, no. by Lady Jane (2.00 / 0) #17 Thu Jul 10, 2008 at 02:56:55 PM EST
I travel for work about every other week, but that will stop in about 2 months.  We called New Mexico home for about 2 months so that I could avoid so much flying back and forth and we might actually get to see each other for a measurable amount of time.

We did research the breeder when we bought the first puppy.  We have been to her home, and spent hours with her, visiting with her puppies before making a decision.  I would recommend her if anyone is looking for a teacup chihuahua.

When we lost the first pup we were devastated but knew we would want another, and that we would want to return to the same breeder.  It was important that we pick him out together and since Rizzo won't be returning to NM with me, we got the little guy before we left.  And I'm really glad we did -- this little guy is a very lovable, well behaved, bundle of puppy love.

Are you calling our boy a stripper or a filmmaker? Or both? Come to think of it, I haven't seen him even try to take off the hoodie or the winter coat yet, so hopefully the latter. In which case, he needs a dog collar camera right away. :-)

But then, I may be biased.

I also, at the time of this writing, appear to be the least hated name!

So... Ok. That's... kinda weird.
