Not quite sure what happened, but the Chinese whispers had him showing up at the local garden centre incoherent (probably drunk). Said something about phoning for a taxi and then went onto the dual carriageway.

I arrived about 20 seconds after this happened. Put my car across one lane and after checking ambulances were on way suggested it was a good idea to at least get one lane clear so traffic could flow and ambulance could get here. So then did my best impression of a traffic policeman.

Ambulance arrived first; didn't see much of what happened, but looked like they were compressing his chest. Police followed, with air ambulance a bit later. Was told that may be here some time so raided garden centre shop for fresh pea pods and satsumas.
