Finished Gulf War 1 autobiography Jarhead by Anthony Swofford. Rather good: well-written, seems realistic and honest. Fairly short: he keeps some variety in it by using a lot of flashbacks and -forwards.
Museums
Dropped in at the
Hreinn Fridfinnsson
exhibition at the Serpentine.
Icelandic semi-conceptual artists.
Some interesting things there: liked the half-vase on a mirror impersonating
a whole vase.
Also had some pictures of a house wallpapered on the outside, much
like the Outside of the Asylum in one of the Douglas Adams books.
Museums 2
Also went to see the
Heath Robinson
exhibition at the Cartoon Gallery.
Thought it would be a bit repetitive,
but actually his imagination gets more impressive
the more you see. The info is actually quite informative
too: hadn't realised how influenced he was by Japanese art
but it's obvious when the examples are pointed out.
Worth a look, especially if you haven't been there before.
