...but fear not.  Succession is not an issue to be tested here.  I'm feeling better.  Huzzah!

So, how can I describe the last couple of weeks?  Well, your Tyrant has been doing a little poorly.  So, I was pretty low for a week.  Not too bad, but it was the kind of doldrums that you know can lead to something worse.  And, well, I can’t afford to be depressed these days.  Welsh Girl has enough problems with the dumps herself and the last thing we need is for both of us to be down at the same time.  Believe me, it would probably end in tears, more than likely hers.  I was feeling pretty low, but the little woman came through for me in both spades and no trump.  And now, I’m not so bad.

Of course, just as I was getting out of that, a sick Dredlock Girl came up for Party Girl’s birthday.  I scoffed that I have the constitution of a horse and I don’t get sick.  That’s probably why I’m the only one who got what she had. :( So, I spent the last week in various levels of sickness, sometimes good enough to go to work and do stuff, sometimes not.  Near the end, after having tons of trouble with mucus and what not, I decided to try something new.  I went in search of a neti pot so I could drain that crap out.  Well, I couldn’t find a reasonably priced one anywhere so I decided to take matters into my own hands.  A dollar and forty-nine cents for a turkey baster was more than affordable.  And it along with salt water did wonders for me.  Hell, I’m thinking about continuing it as part of my daily regimen.  Or maybe every other day.  Who knew that nasal irrigation could really work for something?  Once you get past the strange feeling, it’s not so bad.

Started a new 40K campaign.  This time, it’s less tilted toward one side and more tree based.  We’re also trying the experience rules for units.  Since we all have a large set list of troops to pull from, using the same units over and over, experience could be interesting as time passes.  Another interesting facet is that we’re having kill team battles between the main engagements.  Kill Team is kinda like this: one of you has a squad of whatever race you play and the other has control of small roving bands of an enemy race.  The squad tries to complete a mission, the roving bands are the guards trying to get in your way.  The longer the battle goes, the more control the owner of the roving bands gets over his roving bands.  The cooler you make the attacking squad, the the cooler the roving bands and their big boss are.  It’s pretty quick and a lot of fun.  For anyone who plays, it’s definitely worth a try.  The most important thing of all, though, is that I won my first battle so I’m 1-0.

In a few weeks, Welsh Girl and I are going back out to West Texas.  We’re a little poor, but we need the get away.  Especially her…  She’s dropping her math class.  You know?  The one that will complete her degree?  Well, the teacher is borderline indecipherable (he’s French) and no help whatsoever (once again, French).  I’d like her to finish it, but I also understand how hard math can be if your mind doesn’t work that way.  Besides, a shitty teacher can do more harm than good and there’s no point in going if the class isn’t helping.  Another time for that I guess…

I need a computer, the OLPC project is looking for people to buy them.  Coincidence?  I think not.  And half the cost is tax deductible, too!

That’s it for now, I guess.  Hopefully, I’ll actually use the whine cellar before the year is out.

OLPC by Troll Hard (2.00 / 0) #1 Wed Oct 03, 2007 at 09:04:40 PM EST
I thought they only sold the OLPC computers to third world governments and not individuals. Still the Sugar interface is very primitive and I think they should have just used Ubuntu with GNOME or KDE myself.

Besides the OLPC computer is so limited it isn't technically a laptop, but rather a fancy eBook of sorts.

I'm glad you're feeling better! by littlestar (2.00 / 0) #2 Fri Oct 05, 2007 at 08:41:58 AM EST
That's so annoying for Welsh Girl. I know how that can be having a crap-ass teacher, which makes a class that would have been hard for you simply undoable. I had a statistics experience which was similar. When I did take the class again, it was a completely different experience. I mean, I'm certainly not a super mathy, but a shitty teacher makes it impossible.

Anyway.... it would be cool to see you again.... I bet Texas is nice in the winter... hahahahaha....

You should come visit... by atreides (2.00 / 0) #3 Fri Oct 05, 2007 at 09:50:03 AM EST
Granted, our Imperial digs pale in comparison to yours, but we've got a spare room and would be happy to have visitors... :)  Besides, our winters usually only get down to freezing and not far below that.  Hell, most years, we don't even get snow for more than a day or two.  I bet you snow bunnies would dig it.
